2019 January - Three Weeks and Just Begun

🌴We've got a lov-e-ly bunch of coconuts
- and kid-nuts too!🌴

Three weeks of talking, shopping, planning, teaching, helping, and lots of connecting here in Sandy Bay, Roatan, Honduras. It feels like forever. It feels like a blink of an eye. Some days go mostly as planned and some days - hang on! If you'd like to see some of what we've been up to, take a browse through this photo blog.

Visitors

We've been trying to catch up with people since we've returned. Many come to our gate, or we see them out and about or at their houses. Some of you will recognize some of these faces.

Oscar, Jessie and Jacee brought their appetites for their visit.
We enjoyed food, conversation and much catching up.

Jimena, posing in the rain.
Sandra added cleaning
the classroom to her visit.

The cilantro patch has become a popular place
to entertain visitors.

We always enjoy when Maribel and friend/sister
come by.

Greicy brings a big smile with her visit.

Back-to-School

The last two weeks of January we usually spend helping students get ready for school. This is such a fun thing to do, especially when we get to help shop. Shopping is good!

Shopping at the Uva, in the Colonia, is one of our favourite
places to Back-to-School shop.

The Moya girls like shopping and pretty things.

Geyzi is not your usual shoe shopper.
She picked the first pair she tried on!

Four of the five kids from this household start school this week.
Little Matthew? It will be a few years.

Steven and Larry hiding behind the shoe stack.

Our Work Time

Class-time - English lessons at the table, and computer.

 I asked Larry to get
some pictures of his
work. So - a selfie.

He tells me he is not
sticking the screwdriver
in the outlet.
Happily,  there is no service
available yet.

 installed.

Church Time at Son Rise

Sunday morning with the family.

We are so thrilled to see Lionel serving
in the service with Pastor Ivan.

The church-truck has a load.

Things That Make Us Laugh

This orange Christmas tree has been for sale for almost
as long as we have been here. The display goes up early,
and was still there the second week in January.
Yes! Makes me laugh!

For a few years, people have watched this three-storey structure
being built. As the craftsmen added sea-themed embellishments
we wondered what attraction it would house. Apparently,
selling miscellaneous items in tiny shops won out. A year ago,
the crown jewel was added on the top.

8 pouches of honesty per box.
Grape, berry, or apple.
And organic!
I want a crate of this!

Can you see it?
Check out the close-up.

Things That Bring Us Joy

A classroom full of kids.

The view from one of the hill-top houses. Bella vista!

Same hill-top house looking another direction.
Breathe taking - literally and figuratively!
The view from our perch is pretty special too.

Re-creation at the beach is a special gift to us.
