👋 Goodbye Again




We've jet-setted off again, back to the Canadian banana belt. With balmy temps this week, we aren’t suffering from temperature change, but how I wish our brains would fly on the same flight!

We’ve said goodbye again. While I recognize that the people who check-out our photos are looking to see exotic sights of a travelogue type, as I look over our photos, what I see is more like a family photo album. We collect pictures of the people we spend time with. And while each has an interesting story that we get to pop into briefly - most of what we do and see is just normal living. Of course, there's a few quirky people, maybe, but then they likely call Larry quirky too! 


Goodbye Kids!

Class time with research for projects, or English class, or chit-chatting, or the 20 minute game-time wraps up. 


We took 4 of our boys to enrol in an English class 
in the Colonia with JuanCho so they can continue 
to study when we're not here.

Adios House Visits

Sometimes together, or sometimes just me solo, we have had lots of opportunities to climb to see the best view on the island.


While the view is spectacular, it's the visit that makes the day.

I finally got in to meet Mayra's new baby. Mayra has her hands full with Jaydee, her 3 month old, and Maria, 14 months old! I've had a few visits up to visit Leti and Bayron's extended family - I think it is 12 kids and 12 adults in two houses. And grandma is visiting for a few months. The last visit with Geyzi and Greicy was in our house. They have nimbler knees than we do!

You Can Do It!

The kids started school at the beginning of February and will continue through until November. We know you will do well, you guys!

Left Behinds

Left behind to watch over the property is Hunter. He is well-cared for by Marciel who also takes care of the other living things on the property including flowers, our lawn, our tomatoes that are just about ready (!), and the banana trees in various stages of providing bananas.     Thanks, Marciel!

Views from the Perch

Our house in Roatan has three levels. While compact inside, we have decks on each level for greeting visitors, eating, and just relaxing. From the perch, we have an excellent view of the ocean.

As there is much to-do about halftime shows this weekend, we are sending you one that is family-friendly and will give you all sorts of warm fuzzies as we share in pictures what we have been doing during the first weeks of our time back in Roatan.       These first weeks have been a time of preparations for back to school - registrations, shopping, and problem-solving. Larry has had some time for exploring the local hardware and lumber yards. Although the weather has not motivated beach time (Mr. Sun seems to have gone on vacation - "maybe next week" everyone says - again) there have been opportunities to return to a few local restaurants, and also share in family celebrations. Best of all, it has been a time to reconnect with friends and share our stories.  There have been lots of smiles and hugs, and lots of walking as we get out and about.  It's why we're here, and what we enjoy.  So Good to See You! 🐠 Summer Visit in Photos 💫

The  Summer of '25. It seems wherever you found yourself this summer, it was HOT. And, no  doubt about it - summer in Roatan is a hot time. You just know it is, so you get on with whatever your day holds - morning is best. For us this summer, we were able to spend much of our time visiting. We caught up with all of our students and made tentative plans for next school year. We were able see moms and kids that we were missing. A few house repair jobs were completed. We also enjoyed time relaxing. There is, after all, a reason for that siesta time in the afternoons. 🧗The Stairmaster 🔝

Looking for a stairmaster workout? The place to find this would be in the large colonia in Sandy Bay.  With elevations ranging from sea level to up-up-up, the cardio and leg strengthening grind makes it the ideal workout. The land is folded, sort of like a fan, with roads, houses and buildings originally being built in the folds. As the land has filled with people, the houses have been built up and over the folds and up and back to the crest of the island. Estimates of how many people live in this colonia are - estimates. Numbers suggested range from 7,000 to 10,000 people. Many of the houses are accessed by side roads/paths some quite steep running up the folds.    In order to get to the houses beyond these side paths families and communities have dug into the rock (sometimes mud) to create steps.
