This is the cornerstone of our church at home in Canada - Emmanuel Congregational Church, Ridgetown which is celebrating its 36th anniversary this Sunday. If you are doing the math as you look at the date on the cornerstone and it doesn't add up, the first 3 years of gathering was in various locations including the local arena and the Catholic school.
In the same way, the English church we attend while in Roatan - RChurch -has also worshipped in various locations during its 15-plus years. Being a resort island, the gatherings have been in various resort conference or dining rooms. Many of the congregants are tourists visiting the island and other missionaries. Over time, the congregation has become larger and more diverse. Now as well as tourists it includes expats who live permanently on Roatan, as well as locals - Islanders and Spanish.
With God’s prompting, the elders and pastor of the church recognized it was time for a more permanent arrangement. After much planning, in July of 2024, ground was broke for the new church building. Local contractors and workers have made good progress with the foundation, walls and roof now in place.

| R Church progress - Wednesday, Jan. 15, 7 months since ground-breaking. |
Over this past week, members of the church have been able to have their part in the building process - sort of - as many have written scripture, prayers, song lyrics, and poems on the cement walls. Within a few weeks, the walls will be covered with finishing materials but under all the covering and paint will be the words of God. Such a firm foundation.
This week, I was able to add our contribution to this. It was Larry who suggested what I should write. The words are the scripture that is the cornerstone of our home church - 1 Corinthians 3:11. For us, this brings us all together on the same foundation.
If you ask anyone involved with this church build, and, remembering the building back in 1992 of Emmanuel - all glory and praise goes to God. Gloria a Dios!
